INDEPENDENT FEATURE: "ZOMBIE PLANTATION" Deadline February 20th SYNOPSIS: Twenty years after humanity lost the war to the undead, zombies took over the Earth. The world descended into chaos and anarchy as the few survivors succumbed to starvation, disease, the undead or each other. But for a small community that banded together a generation ago, the horrors of the outside world are but a distant memory. Three years have passed since a ghoul last stumbled across Stone Compound ( named for its late founder, Alex Stone). Stone Compound is home to about 30. Children have been born within its walls that have never seen the land beyond it and have experienced none of the terror that left its indelible mark on its older inhabitants. But as the community has grown through refugees and children, its limited resources have grown scarce. Motivated by this and comforted by the years that have passed since an encounter with ghouls or ruffians, Lee, Andy and Mike Stone, decide to venture beyond the walls of Stone Compound in search of resources and any sign of humanity. What they find not far from their home is shocking. Rosedale Plantation has been fortified and its walls and perimeter are patrolled by armed guards who "arrest" our scouting party. Within its walls Curtis Strong is the "boss". His armed goons are the enforcers and his "citizens" are slave labour tending his fields and any other needs he has. The slaves are not in that class based on race, just poor souls with the misfortune of seeking shelter from the zombies at Rosedale under the "protection" of Strong. Strong has a strict policy when it comes to discipline: deviate even the slightest and you're thrown into the "zombie pit". The battle of wills between Mike and Curtis is even greater than the threat of the zombies... or is it? SEEKING: Looking for music that has a strong Louisiana vibe and feel. SHORT FILM: “BLACK PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE TOO” Deadline February 20th SYNOPSIS: Is Karen the last racist in New York? Karen is a mid-thirties white woman struggling with her racism (“I know it’s not polite to refer to them that way,” she says, after calling someone a monkey). Enter William, who resolves to devote himself to “exorcising the racism from Karen the Racist” by taking her on a tour through some of the city’s "ethnic" literature, art and neighborhoods, but still Karen can’t manage to kick the habit. The story takes a turn when Barack Obama, a first-time senator from Illinois, begins to mount an impressive presidential campaign (Obama is “half-white, half-black”). It soon becomes clear that America’s race sensitivity is as skin-deep as it is colour blind. Can William convince Karen the Racist that skin color is entirely incidental? Or is she a lost cause and, as some of his friends say, a total waste of time? Or is Karen’s racism symptomatic of a larger problem in dire need of eradication? A provocative film about race and human rights in the new millennium. SEEKING: Looking for original music, ready to go. Style/Genre: Jazz, Acoustic instrumental (no music composed largely by computer), hip hop, piano. Looking for submissions now. The film is currently in post-production and will be complete by the end of the month. Other tracks, already part of the soundtrack, are by established artists. ANIMATION THESIS (SVA.U.S.) Deadline February 20th SEEKING: A Music Composer for animated thesis film by senior in the computer art program at the School of Visual Arts. Being a thesis project this is really for an emerging composer looking to add to there reel as well as getting exposure. The temp soundtrack being used is from the film "The Fountain" and this is the kind of feel needed. STUDENT SHORT: “TOTEM” (US) Deadline February 20th SEEKING: A composer to help on a student animated short. At the moment a temp-track is being used with the edit, but in general looking for anyone with experience in tribal beats and chants, but with a modern twist, as long as its appropriate and creative. The track would need to be finalized by April 1st 2012, but any participant could start immediately, for any changes to the edit will be slight. Great exposure for new composure. WEB SERIES: “ONE” (US) Deadline February 20th SYNOPSIS: "One" is a Sci-Fi web series about a Computer Scientist who discovers he is a computer simulation. We have shot 4 episodes so far with attached talent like Orlando Jones and Kim Hillins (Star Trek, Tron) in costume design. Joshua Kolden, visual effects veteran (Avatar, The Fifth Element, Fight Club, etc) is directing and in charge of VFX. It is an exciting project and we are looking for a candidate that can bring in different ideas to the table. SEEKING: Looking for a highly motivated and talented music composer with a passion for Sci-Fi and Electronica. Compensation is negotiable based on experience. Low pay first with possibility of full pay once the show is picked up. You'll be working closely with the director to also generate a score for the teaser of the web series.
SPORTS TV: ”NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (NCAA) BASKETBALL (ESPN, US)
